About Customer: The end customer is pharma multi-national based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India and has operations in Asia, Europe and north America.

The company is currently running an on-premises Active Directory domain environment for centralized identity and device management for all their employees’ and devices. Also, they are using Google Workspace for their emails, files and Office apps. One of our MSP Client engaged us where we were asked to provide professional services for migration of the company’s Google Workspace email (users’ mailboxes) and file data (Google Drive and Shared Drive) to Microsoft 365 Cloud Platform for meeting enhanced productivity, collaboration, security and compliance requirements.

Requirement To migrate Google Workspace email (users’ mailboxes) and file data (Google Drive and Shared Drive) to Microsoft 365 Cloud Platform.

All Google workspace users’ mailboxes, Drive and Shared Drive (organization wide data) were successfully migrated to Microsoft 365 platform under Exchange Online, OneDrive and Share Point Online respectively. Also, as part of this project, there’s directory synchronization configured between on-premises Active directory and Azure AD for ensuring seamless single sign-on experience for users while accessing any of O365 apps.

  • Laid down centralized identity Infrastructure for newly subscribed Microsoft 365 tenant by synchronizing on-premises user identities to Azure AD using Azure AD Connect tool Migration (Initial sync) of all users’ mailboxes to Exchange Online from Google Workspace using native tools
  • Migration (initial sync) of all users’ Google drive (personal data) and shared drive (organization wide data) to Microsoft OneDrive for Business and SharePoint Online Team Sites respectively
  • Setup required Group Policy Objects for deployment and automatic configuration of M365 Apps at the time of switchover
  • Performed mail flow and data switchover from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 Cloud Platform followed by final sync to get any remaining files/email data updated

All user’s email, file and organization wide file data is successfully migrated to Microsoft 365 platform from Google Workspace. This was done in a seamless fashion with zero downtime and automatic configuration for their Email Account Profile under Microsoft Outlook App.
